Enclosed
Carrier Vehicle Shipping
There are
2 basic types of enclosed vehicle transports,
“Soft Side” and “Hard Side Hydraulic Lift
Gate.” Any move on an enclosed carrier is going to cost more money
than a move on an open transport.
Enclosed transports are only able to fit 6
to 8 cars and trucks in most cases.
Soft
side enclosed offers some protection from the
elements; however, the wind and weather does blow
around the soft curtains, and will still get on
your vehicle.
I have seen many cars transported in a soft
side carrier show up just as dirty as a vehicle
moved on an open carrier.
In most cases, you might as well just move
the vehicle on an open carrier.
Hard
Side Hydraulic Lift Gate trucks are the true
enclosed transports.
These transports will hold between 2 and 6
vehicles depending on the cars being transported.
Obviously the cost is higher because you
are splitting the cost of the move between fewer
vehicles. Hard
side enclosed is sometimes necessary for vehicles
with less than 3” of clearance.
You will also want to use a hard side
carrier if your car must say completely out of the
elements during transport.
